Independent Music Teachers Association

TMTA State Conference Projects

The annual Texas Music Teachers Association state convention will be held on June 12-15, 2025 at the Houston Hyatt Regency.  The Conference Projects is an activity where various student-created posters, artwork and other tangible music-related items are on display for convention attendees.  Students may also be able to submit their IMTA festival creative project as a conference project at the TMTA convention for a cerificate and medal. KEEP IN MIND THE TMTA CONFERENCE PROJECT REQUIREMENTS ARE SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT FROM THE IMTA FESTIVAL PROJECT REQUIREMENTS (see dimensions below). To participate in the convention activity, the teacher must also submit the TMTA entry form and pay the separate fees ($15-$30/student). The postmark deadline for the TMTA conference project is April 15, 2024.  Students wishing to submit the same project for both IMTA and TMTA events, will have to make sure they follow all the guidelines and requirements for both events. For example, for the TMTA Conference Project you may work on the project individually or as a group of 2-6 students. However for the IMTA festival you may only collaborate on projects with other students in an ensemble. Otherwise, no project collaboration is allowed. Please carefully read the TMTA Conference Project requirements below if you are considering creating a project for both events! You can visit the TMTA website for a picture of a conference project example: https://www.tmta.org/pages/conference-activities  Please note: the TMTA All-Star festival is a DIFFERENT event from the IMTA All-Star festival!

Here are the official convention project requirements from page 45 of the 2023-2024 TMTA handbook:
